Is your skin ready for Winter?
With Autumn in nearly full swing and winter right around the corner – it’s time to think about switching up your skincare routine. Just like changing your clothes when the seasons change, it’s the same with skincare!
Hey everyone – it’s Cait here and I am a Medical Aesthetician located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Being in the aestheticindustry for years, it’s critical to change up your daily skincare routine for optimal skin health and best results. Here are a few of my favorite tips on transitioning your current routine to prep for Winter.
1. Switch to a Thicker Moisturizer
With the environment changing, switching to a thicker moisturizer at night time will help restore any lost moisture that comes from long, hot summer months. Doing this will help repair hydration levels in the skin overnight. I love using my HydraFacial PurMoist for overnight repair.
2. Applying Sunscreen Daily
While the sun’s rays are more intense during the summer, it is vitality important to apply sunscreen in the fall and winter, especially. The harmful rays are always present in all four seasons and we need to keep our skin protected at all times. As UV radiation accelerates and increases the risk of skin cancer, it is recommended to use a daily SPF 30 or higher and reapply throughout the day. My favorite sunscreens are Sunforgetable by ColorScience and Hampton Sun Mineral SPF 50.
3. Add a Humidifier to your Household
Along with your daily skincare regimen, I suggest investing in a humidifier during the fall and winter to boost hydration at home. Humidifiers add moisture to the air, and your skin constantly interfaces with the air. The more moisture in the air, the more moisture it’ll share with your skin. You can also opt for a Diffuser as well.
4. Consider professional skincare treats such as microneedling, chemical peels, laser treatments for sun damage, and many others to maintain optimal skin health.
